Little cousin of Fortnite. Review Of Cuisine Royale

A prank that got out of control
It would seem that the “battle Royale” genre is in the stage of logical decline after PUBG and Fortnite collected all possible cream from gaming wallets. But it was not there: the need for the product still exists, so more and more games are trying to occupy a niche that brings Golden fruits. We looked into one of these from the domestic publisher Gaijin Entertainment called Cuisine Royale, which collected unexpectedly high reviews from gamers on Steam.

The ENT of a third-person shooter is staggeringly unpredictable. The creators of the game managed to mix together the Scandinavian and Aztec epics with weapons from the Second and sometimes the First world wars. And on top, as if the rest is not enough, poured characters magical abilities. There are four heroes in the game: Clyde Mullican, ITC Ocelotl, Eric Thorson and Annie Ashley. A cowboy, an Aztec warrior, a Varangian with Scandinavian tattoos, and a girl in short shorts. Even though much.

In addition to cosmetic differences, fighters are equipped with unique abilities. Clyde periodically turns on the Beast mode – increases the speed of movement and damage resistance. Annie is able to slow down time and notice enemies before they see her. Ocelotl is able to turn into a Ghost, invulnerable to bullets. Well, Erik like Thor can soar into the sky and return back with the shock wave. In order to use the superpower, you need to get a shower with successful frags or enhanced character feeding. This is, in fact, a byte for activity, and not sitting in the bushes waiting for sniffing couriers.

The map in Cuisine Royale is still one, but it is quite large and varied. Slightly reminiscent of the location from Apex Legends or Fortnite — an abundance of landscapes, terrain folds and all sorts of buildings from villages to military bunkers. They are just quite profitable to take in the game with a Duo or squad-the bunker is equipped with a powerful machine gun, for which you can put one shooter, and the rest cover the remaining viewing angles.

The zone moves around the location quite quickly, forcing you to constantly move and be alert. The enemy can sit in a building, hide in a trench, lie in the bushes, or race a fast truck directly at the player. Unpredictability and drive are present, as an absolutely necessary factor for a good Royal battle. By the way, about unpredictability: on the map there are rocket packs, with which you can stupidly fall on the head of the enemy. What do you think, Brendan green?

Gradually, you get used to the funny setting and it feels somehow fresh in contrast to the numerous copies of the same PUBG. There is a lot of humor in the game, and it came, in fact, by itself. Cuisine Royale was originally conceived as an April fool’s joke in a serious MMO joke. But the prank got out of control and it turned out that it did. Naked dudes in armor from pans and colanders drench each other with magic and lead rain from PPSH. Action!

In addition to ultimatum abilities, characters in Cuisine Royale can spend their souls on magic seals for performing magic rituals or setting traps. Traps and rituals are another cool tool for a variety of gameplay components. Rituals are expensive, but they are even more fun. For example, the “Brown note” magically turns every toilet into a teleport, and if you push hard with the collection of souls, you can send a crowd of zombies to all your rivals and viciously giggle somewhere to yourself in the side, while the others in a panic fight off the crowd of the living dead.

The chaotic interweaving of mechanics revives the familiar and, let’s be honest, boring battle royale gameplay. And with customization, there is a complete order, although the publisher is forced to beat off the free-to-play product with a system of donations for cosmetics. By tradition, as they say, no one forces you. You want to buy, you want to run in your underpants. If you want-save in-game money, earn skill for new clothes for your favorite Persian.

Where without criticism, if it is on the case, right? Cuisine Royale is perfectly optimized, but the physics of the character’s movements and especially shooting are primitive. We will not dig into the graphics, in principle, we do not need fancy special effects — the style is not like that. In terms of shooting and movement, the game is very similar to the early version of Fortnite. Because of the bright landscapes and occasional congestion of the map, it is difficult to notice enemies. Fortunately, there is a pointer to the direction of fire, but it is not easy to see the enemy against the background of this kaleidoscope.

A third-person view often means lying in the bushes, and this game is no exception. It is clear that the progenitor of Cuisine Royale is an MMO shooter, but since the creators took the product seriously, it would be worth considering the prospect of a first-person view. At least as an experiment.

The Latvian developers have an unexpectedly original battle Royale-as far as it is possible. What is especially surprising, the project managed to fall in love with the audience in the presence of such powerful competitors as Fortnite, PUBG and Apex Legends. Now the game has 80% positive reviews from 18 thousand reviewers on Steam. So there’s something about it. Gamers can’t be fooled.
