20 Tasty Homemade Christmas Dog Treat Recipes You Must Try (2024)

Homemade Christmas dog treats aren’t just something special to spoil your dog with over Christmas, but they’re also a great gift idea. Remember to cut them into smaller sizes instead of making “human size” cookies to avoid overfeeding your dogs.

Personally, I like to make some of these treats, put them in cute Christmas tins and bring them to holiday parties where I know the hosts are dog owners. However, if you do that, touch base with the owners to account for any food allergies. Also, to keep the treats smaller, I like to use a fun mini dog cookie cutter to consistently get equal treat sizes.

I will often include a copy of the recipe with these treats. This is not only so the owners I'm gifting this to can make them by themselves later, but also so they can see all the ingredients. If not the treats, you can do the same with homemade dinner recipes, too.

Another gift idea I recommend is printing all of these homemade Christmas dog treat recipes, and place them in a Christmas themed box. Owners can then pick the treats that they know their pups will enjoy – a nice holiday tradition.

(Not Grain-free)

1. Simple Christmas Cookies

You're late with preparing these homemade Christmas dog treat recipes, and you need a very quick Christmas cookie for that crazy puppy party that's about to take place. This is one of the easiest Christmas dog treats to make, and it's similar to Samantha's recipe.

  • 1 cup plain non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup all-natural peanut butter
  • Water

Preheat the oven to 375° F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Mix ingredients together well, adding water if needed to create a rollable dough. Roll out the dough and cut the cookies out. Bake for 15 min. or until browned.

2. Christmas Morning Bacon Nut Treats
