Crochet granny squares are timeless classics. They are small in size, making them easily portable. They are also perfect as yarn stash busters. So, if you are looking for an easy granny square pattern, you are in the right place.
The puff stitches used to create the flower’s petals gives this square the perfect texture making it squishy and great option for blankets, hats, cardigans and bags. I have 2 blankets coming out using this square and one cardigan and one bag as well. So I can surely say that this granny square is super versatile and ones you get the pattern a breeze to crochet.
Why you will love this easy granny square pattern
I love this easy granny square pattern because it is super customizable. If you are a beginner, you can switch the treble crochet stitches with double crochet stitches for the corners and switch the wide double crochet stitch with a wide half double crochet stitch. This will make the pattern more beginner-friendly.
Of course, you can also use different colors for the flowers or the squares. I have designed two blankets using the Color Theory yarn and the Hue and Me yarn by Lion Brand. For the Hue and Me blanket, I crocheted the flowers in one color, and for the other one, I used different colors for the flowers. They both turned out great.
Yarn
I used Lion Brand Color Theory yarn for this easy granny square made with puff stitches, but you can use any yarn you have in your stash. You will need three colors as we use yellow color for the center of the flower, white or ivory color for flower’s petal and the third color as our main color for the square.
